Heronrib Anti-slip Poolside Walkways

The Problem

Just outside Houston, Texas, the Magnolia Independent School District manages 17 schools attended by thousands of students. Their indoor swimming pool is used daily by hundreds of students as well as local residents. Due to the very high foot fall with the added wet conditions the pool’s management became concerned about the potential slip risk and and wanted to install slip-resistant walkways that allowed safe access for everybody using the facilities. As for most schools, swim-meets are held and they loved the fact that the matting coordinated with the schools colours.

The Solution

While Magnolia’s head coach was attending a swim-meet at Texas A&M University he noticed a matting had been installed all around the poolside. He acknowledged the fact that the matting had a slip-resistant surface but what also caught his eye was that the colour of the Universities matting coincidentally was the same as the schools colours.

Samples were ordered and the matting was tested at their own pool, after approval several hundred metres of Heronrib matting were ordered to create walkways around the pool. Designed specifically for bathing and washing areas with high foot fall, Heronrib self-drains and disperses water quickly even large amounts. The surface is embossed which gives the Heronrib its comfort with bare feet whilst delivering an excellent slip-resistance, and with the added benefit of being antimicrobial and anti-fungal ensures good hygiene all round.
