The Magnolia Independent School District is located just outside Houston, Texas, and manages 17 public schools attended by more than 10,000 students. The district’s indoor swimming pool is used by more than 300 of those students each day, as well as members of the local community. The pool’s management had become concerned that high traffic coupled with wet surrounds could result in injury, and so wanted to install walkways that allowed safe access for everyone using the pool. The venue is also used for student swim-meets, so management were keen that the matting coordinate with the school colours.
✔️ Quickly drains large volumes of water
✔️ Provides both grip and comfort underfoot
✔️ Light to handle for easy cleaning and maintenance
✔️ Protects bare feet from bacterial contamination
✔️ Coordinates with the school’s colours
While attending a swimming meet at Texas A&M University, Magnolia’s head coach and aquatic director Terry Jones noticed that matting had been installed around the perimeters of the pool. It wasn’t just the slip-resistance surface that caught his eye but the colour of the matting, which had been ordered in the University’s distinctive collegiate maroon – coincidentally the same hue as Magnolia’s school colour.
After testing the matting around their own pool, the Magnolia district ordered several hundred metres of Heronrib matting to line the lengths of the pool. Specifically designed for wet areas with high barefoot traffic, Heronrib automatically self-drains – even when faced with the largest amounts of water. The embossed surface delivers grip and comfort underfoot, while the antimicrobial and anti-fungal additives ensures excellent hygiene.
Keep bathing and washing areas safe with Heronrib, the ultimate slip-resistant sports and leisure matting designed to withstand extensive barefoot traffic.
