The Royal Horticultural Society’s Nurseries in Wisley, is a large garden and nursery with three climate zone glasshouse’s, an educational space and growing lab. It’s very popular, making it the second most visited garden and nursery in the country. Becoming concerned that the original matting was beginning to be slippery due the humidity, heat and large amounts of water the RHS needed a new solution. So a new slip resistant solution was required that could cope with the hot and damp conditions, plus the high levels of footfall as well as wheeled traffic.

A heavy engineering site in South Yorkshire had a issue with cutting fluids used in their metal processing area. Just outside Houston, Texas, the Magnolia Independent School District manages 17 schools attended by thousands of students. Their indoor swimming pool is used daily by hundreds of students as well as local residents. Due to the very high foot fall with the added wet conditions the pool’s management became concerned about the potential slip risk and and wanted to install slip-resistant walkways that allowed safe access for everybody using the facilities. As for most schools, swim-meets are held and they loved the fact that the matting coordinated with the schools colours.

A housing association in Northern France started receiving complaints from its residents about slippery surfaces and excessive noise. The building was a busy apartment block comprising of four floors all linked by passageways and communal areas. The residents and their visitors were slipping on the walkways which were open to the elements, and were not happy about noise created by pedestrian foot traffic which produced an echoing in the passageways.

In West Sussex, St Andrews CE Primary School took over an existing educational site with temporary classrooms provided by the council to minimise the disruption to its students. Over 400 school children attended each day, so there was an urgent requirement for some form of barrier matting to tackle the dirt and debris being tracked inside and to also help reduce the cleaning costs.
